Round of 32
Important — the stadium is NOT in San Francisco city Levi's Stadium is in Santa Clara, 45 miles south of San Francisco. Many fans book hotels in the city and are surprised by the long commute. Stay in Santa Clara or San Jose for matchday convenience, or budget 90 minutes travel time if staying in SF.
🏨
Where to stay
Santa Clara
Walking distance or very short VTA ride to the stadium. Most convenient for match days. Hilton Santa Clara is steps from the stadium. Quieter and more suburban between matches.
Closest to stadium
San Jose
Best balance of convenience and city life. VTA light rail direct to stadium. Downtown San Jose has great restaurants, Santana Row for shopping, lively nightlife. More affordable than SF.
Best overall
San Francisco City
Best tourist experience. Golden Gate Bridge, cable cars, incredible food. But 45 miles from the stadium — allow 90 minutes each way via Caltrain and VTA. Best for fans wanting the full SF experience between matches.
Best experience
Mountain View / Palo Alto
Mid-point on the Caltrain line. Good hotel range, Caltrain access direct to Mountain View then VTA to stadium. More affordable than downtown SF. Popular with tech workers and their guests.
Budget friendly
Book Santa Clara hotels immediately The Hilton and Hyatt Regency adjacent to the stadium have been selling out months in advance. If you want walkable matchday access, these need to be booked now. San Jose has more availability at better prices.

Local tips for the Bay Area
🚊
VTA light rail direct to Great America Station
VTA Green and Orange lines stop at Great America Station, a 5-minute walk to the stadium entrance. From downtown San Jose this is about 20 minutes. From Mountain View via Caltrain transfer, allow 60-90 minutes from downtown SF. VTA also connects from BART at Milpitas for East Bay visitors.
🚆
From San Francisco — Caltrain then VTA
Take Caltrain south from San Francisco 4th and King station to Mountain View. Transfer to VTA Orange Line to Great America Station. The full journey takes 60-90 minutes depending on connections. Check the Caltrain app and VTA app before leaving. Buy a Clipper card on arrival in SF for seamless transit payments across the whole Bay Area.
✈️
Fly into SJC — it is 5 miles from the stadium
San Jose Mineta International Airport (SJC) is only 5 miles from Levi's Stadium. A free shuttle from SJC terminals connects to Santa Clara Caltrain station. From there VTA light rail takes you to the stadium. SFO is 35 miles away but has far more international flights — most international fans will arrive there.
🌁
San Francisco is unmissable — plan your days
Even if you stay in Santa Clara for matchday convenience, take at least one day trip into San Francisco. Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown, the Ferry Building food market, Alcatraz and the cable cars are all within a short BART or Muni ride of each other. One of the great cities in the world.
🌡️
Bring a jacket — Bay Area weather surprises people
San Francisco is famously cold even in June and July — the marine layer rolls in every evening dropping temperatures significantly. Santa Clara is warmer but evening matches cool quickly. Pack a light jacket or fleece for every evening match regardless of what the forecast says.
🦀
World class food at every price point
The Bay Area has exceptional food diversity. Dungeness crab at Fisherman's Wharf, Michelin-starred restaurants throughout SF, Mission District burritos, incredible dim sum in the Richmond, and the farmers markets at Ferry Building on Saturdays. Santana Row in San Jose is great for post-match dining near the stadium.
