Local tips for Seattle
🚈
Link light rail is the easiest stadium route in the US
Sound Transit Link light rail runs directly from SEA-TAC Airport to Stadium Station in 40 minutes with no transfers. From downtown hotels it is 1-3 stops. Trains run every 8 minutes with increased service on match days until 1am. Buy an ORCA card at the airport on arrival — $3 one-way, $6 day pass. A special 3-day transit pass for $21 is available at the airport.
🚶
Walk from downtown — unique advantage
Seattle is one of the only US host cities where fans can walk to the stadium from their hotel. Pioneer Square is a 5-10 minute walk. Downtown core is 15-20 minutes. No other major US World Cup venue offers this.
🌧️
Pack a rain jacket — always
Seattle's reputation for rain is earned. June is actually one of the drier months but rain is always possible. Lumen Field is open air. Bring a light waterproof layer for every match regardless of the forecast.
Coffee capital of the world
Seattle is the birthplace of Starbucks and has an extraordinary independent coffee culture. Pike Place Market is the original Starbucks location. Countless excellent independent cafes across Capitol Hill and downtown. Coffee here is genuinely exceptional.
🎉
Fan Festival at Seattle Center
The official FIFA Fan Festival is at Seattle Center near the Space Needle with live match broadcasts, food and events throughout the tournament. Easily reachable by monorail from downtown or a short walk from hotels.
💵
Tip 18-20% everywhere
Tipping is expected at restaurants, bars and for most services. Seattle is an expensive city — budget $80-120 per day for food and transport. Pike Place Market is a great affordable food option.
